The Neuschwanstein Schloss

Exploring Europe is one of my biggest dream. So when I had the chance to have my very first Schengen visa, I took the chance of exploring the several countries of Europe.

I was in Holland, and Germany is just 6 hours drive away. So we decided to pack our things and plan for an entire vacation. While driving, we saw a lot of nice views from the city to the country side. I got mesmerize with the castles of Germany. I was wondering “does fairytales are real? Does prince and princesses really exist?”
Though castles are a bit old, you can still see its beauty. I was keep on asking “how did they build such castles at the top of the mountain during that time”

I found out that some castles are now becoming a hotel and others was owned by the state for tourism.

I was so so eager to see at least one castle. So the next day we went to this Schloss Neuschwanstein or the Neuschwanstein Castle. A castle who serves as an inspiration to the Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty.
You can avail their tour for 13 Euro per adult. The tour inside the castle are conducted with many languages either with tour guide or with an audio guide. (Bring headphones so you can hear the audio clear and no need to hold the audio for the entire tour)

Before reaching the castle, you may take a bus going up to the mountain or a gig with two strong horses or you may walk and enjoy the nature for like 40 minutes. We choose to take a gig and it makes me really feel like living at yesteryears time.

It is better to be early at the castle so you still have time to walk around and take pictures of its surroundings. There’s this fall at the side of the castle where you can take selfies or go to the stair where you can see some part of the castles.

You have to wait for your number to be shown inside the monitor before entering.
While inside the castle I imagined how people use to live with a king before. How they go up and down inside the castle using long stairs. The castle still looks amazing from the decorations, curtains, carpets, walls, rooms and paintings.

The King’s bedroom together with his study room look so majestic. The motif of the both room are similar.

The king’s favorite animal is swan and as a matter of fact, there are some room inside the castle where curtains, paintings and other decorations contains with swan designs. They also have this huge swan display on one of the corner in the castle.

This is the room where the king places his throne chair and sits most of the time. The room is huge and the floor has a paintings of different animals. But it is no longer the original one. The floor that we stepped in is already the replica of the original.

Unfortunately, not all rooms are allowed to visit inside the castle. There are some rooms that is strictly prohibited to enter.

When I was there, I realized that the things I only saw on fairytales and movies before, becomes reality that time, I feel like I was totally in that world especially when I look at the breath-taking
view outside the castle. Seeing the small town, the snowy mountain, the people, the animals. It was all belong to the king during his time.

After 20 minutes of tour, you may still stay in the castle enjoying the picturesque view, taking pictures (only on the places allowed) or have some snacks as they have some restaurants and souvenir shops.

This is the tunnel you have to go through when going out of the castle. It’s a bit creepy especially when you are alone passing this hole. You can imagine a lot about people and how they live before.

After getting out of the magical castle, we just had a romantic walk downhill as it was so hard to take a scheduled bus and carriages. Lots of people usually walk going down up to the parking area to see what’s more around the place and to enjoy the stunning beauty of nature.

Being in this place is such a great experience. Learning new cultures, history and places.
So what are you waiting for? Visit Schloss Neuschwanstein and be feel like a princess inside the kingdom.
